For over 30 years, Newlands has provided safe, supportive accommodation to thousands of vulnerable young people aged 18–25 facing homelessness—offering them the chance to rebuild their lives. None of this would have been possible without the incredible people who’ve been part of our journey: from our visionary founders and the dedicated staff and volunteers, past and present, to the thousands of supporters and members who have contributed along the way. With space for up to 35 residents at a time, we continue to help young people build confidence, develop vital skills, and move toward brighter, more stable futures.
As part of our 30th Anniversary celebration, we're launching a special fundraising campaign.
For 30 years, Southend YMCA’s Newlands has provided safe, supported housing for young people in crisis. Help us continue changing lives—donate today and be part of the next 30 years.
Cycle September – 30 Day Challenge
Join us this September and help raise vital funds for Southend YMCA’s ‘30 Years of Changing Lives’ campaign. For the 30 days in September, cycle 30miles or 30mins per day or you could choose to do 300 or 3000 miles over the course of the month - it’s up to you! We can provide you with sponsorship forms and a link to our Just Giving Campaign making it easy for your friends and family to donate as you work to complete your challenge.
Who – we are asking cycling enthusiasts and other members of the public
What – cycle outdoors or on stationary bike
When – 1st Sept – 30th Sept
Why – Each day reflects each year Newlands has been opened. Raising funds for another 30 years
